HONESDALE, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man who tried to kill his girlfriend’s 4-year-old son will serve up to 22 years in prison.

The Times-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2qIe03N ) that 32-year-old Steven Wojtowicz (VOYT’-uh-wich), of Berlin, was sentenced to eight to 22 years Thursday. Wojtowicz pleaded guilty to attempted homicide, terroristic threats and a separate DUI charge in April.

Police say Wojtowicz attacked Aiden Kresge and his mother, Kristie Young, after getting upset with Young in November. Investigators say Wojtowicz punched, kicked and choked the boy before throwing him into a couch.

Police arrested Wojtowicz later that day after he left the scene.

District Attorney Janine Edwards says although Kresge did not suffer permanent physical injuries, the child has serious emotional injuries.
