GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - A 44-year-old woman who is charged with killing another woman and then fleeing in her pickup truck has been returned to Great Falls to face charges.

Pamela Jean Courtnage is charged with deliberate homicide and theft after police found the body of a 69-year-old woman outside Courtnage’s home on Saturday.

Courtnage was arrested several hours later in Missoula County.

During an initial court appearance Thursday, a public defender said Courtnage’s mental health could be a factor in the case. Courtnage’s arraignment, during which she will enter a plea, has not been scheduled. She remains jailed with her bail set at $500,000.

Cascade County officials have not released the name of the victim, citing a voter-approved constitutional amendment outlining crime victims’ rights that goes into effect on July 1.
