HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania paramedic has had mercy on a woman who tried to stab him during a domestic dispute, and agreed to her plea bargain to lesser charges.
Pennlive.com (https://bit.ly/2rzciC9 ) says Zachary Myers’ agreement enabled 28-year-old Juanee Crawford to plead guilty Monday to a lesser charge of aggravated assault in the Thanksgiving Eve 2015 confrontation. She had been charged with attempted homicide.
Under the deal, Crawford will receive 1½ to 3 years in prison when she’s sentenced in August.
Myers was wearing a bullet-proof vest that deflected the large kitchen knife and caused it to slide across his chest.
Crawford’s attorney told a Dauphin County judge the incident stemmed from Crawford’s day-long drinking and that she now has a job and has “stabilized” her life.
She was using the knife to prepare Thanksgiving dinner when Myers arrived.
