LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - A Florida woman has been sentenced to life in prison for killing her longtime boyfriend and dumping his body in a swampy area behind his home.

The Lakeland Ledger reports that 59-year-old Victoria Collins was sentenced Monday after a jury found her guilty of first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and three counts of petty theft.

Authorities say Collins killed Gary Greenfield in June 2015 and dumped his body in a swampy area littered with garbage behind a mobile home he was renting from Collins. Around the same time, Greenfield’s friends and family members received emails and texts saying he would be out of touch for some time. His body was found about six weeks later.
