MORRISONVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - State police say they’re investigating the death of a man after a domestic dispute inside a northern New York home.
Troopers say they responded around the night of June 15 to a report of a dispute inside a house in the Clinton County hamlet of Morrisonville. At the scene troopers found 30-year-old Sheldin Deso lying unconscious on the floor.
Emergency crews arrived and took him to the hospital in nearby Plattsburgh, where he was listed in critical condition before dying two days later.
Police say they learned that Deso was drunk when he showed up at the home and threatened to get a garden tool to harm family members. Troopers say a struggle ensued during which Deso was restrained on the floor until police arrived.
An autopsy determined Deso asphyxiated from having his torso compressed.
