MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after being convicted of killing his 3-year-old son.
The Commercial Appeal reports that 49-year-old Terry Patterson was sentenced Thursday in the 2015 death of Josiah Patterson. The Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Josiah’s death a homicide from blunt-force trauma to the head.
Patterson said he did not kill his son. Shelby County Criminal Court Judge Carolyn Wade says this case was one of the worst the court had seen and that she had “heard nothing in terms of remorse.”
Patterson was convicted of aggravated child abuse, child neglect, child endangerment, voluntary manslaughter and second-degree murder in February. He will serve 25 years for the abuse charges and 25 years for the murder charges.
