NEWNAN, Ga. (AP) - Police say two 11-year-old girls were shot during a sleepover in an apparent drive-by in Georgia.

Newnan Deputy Police Chief Mark Cooper tells local media that four girls were inside the home when gunshots were fired into it around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Two of the girls, both 11, were hit by gunfire. Cooper says one was struck in the right cheek and the other was struck in the left thigh. Both victims were taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston - one by helicopter and one by ambulance.

Cooper said Tuesday that both girls are in stable condition.

Investigators believe the gun used was a 9mm. Police were able to count seven bullet holes in the home.

Cooper says police haven’t identified a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
