ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A Rochester police officer who was shot in the face while on duty last weekend has been released from the hospital.

WHEC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2rXA3nr ) fellow officers lined the main entrance to Rochester General Hospital and saluted as Jeremy Nash was released Monday, his 36th birthday.

Rochester police officials say the 11-year veteran was wounded late Saturday night while responding to an unrelated call in the city’s northeast section. He was able to communicate with police dispatchers as he was being taken to the hospital.

Police launched an intensive search for the shooter but no one has been arrested. Details of the shooting haven’t been released by police.
