FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (AP) - A man has died after he was taken into custody following a fight at a South Carolina bar.

Folly Beach Police Chief Andrew Gilreath told local media the man died shortly after getting into a fight with another man early Wednesday.

Gilreath says Folly Beach officers and Charleston County sheriff’s deputies responded to the fight.

He says the man suffered a medical emergency in a sheriff’s vehicle. The man was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston where he died. His name has not been released.

Gilreath says the second man in the fight was taken to a hospital for and he was in stable condition.

Officials don’t know what led to the fight.

The State Law Enforcement Division is assisting in the investigation.
