MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters say heavy rains are raising the possibility of flooding along the northern Gulf Coast.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch from southern Louisiana eastward to the Alabama-Florida line, and forecasters say it may be expanded into the Florida Panhandle.

The weather service says rainfall amounts from 1 to 3 inches are possible across the area on Thursday, making minor flooding a possibility along creeks and in low-lying areas.

Heavy downpours are possible into northern Alabama and Georgia during the afternoon hours.

The northern Gulf Coast is still drying out from Tropical Storm Cindy, which dumped as much as 15 inches of rain over a seven-day period. Minor flooding is still being reported in parts of southern Mississippi and Alabama.
