BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) - A 15-year-old boy will be charged as an adult in connection with a drive-by shooting that critically wounded a 17-year-old.
The Sun Herald reports that the teen was arrested on a charge of attempted murder in Wednesday’s shooting. Police have not released the names of the suspect or victim.
Sheriff Ricky Adam says the younger teen drove up to the older teen as he was riding a bicycle and fired at least two shots after they exchanged words. Hancock County Investigator Glenn Grannan says the 17-year-old was taken to a New Orleans hospital in critical condition, with a bullet lodged in his spine.
Grannan says Mississippi law requires the 15-year-old to be charged as an adult.
It’s unclear if the teen has a lawyer.
