MONROE, La. (AP) - A Louisiana woman has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $5,000 in federal funds from a housing development.

Stephanie Threats, a 46-year-old resident of Lake Providence, faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine following her guilty plea Thursday to one count of conspiracy to commit federal program theft.

Acting U.S. Attorney Alexander Van Hook’s office said in a statement Friday that Threats worked for an Oak Grove elderly housing apartment company and created false invoices for federally funded work that was never performed.

She is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge S. Maurice Hicks Jr. on Sept. 27.
