PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (AP) - The body of a 19-year-old Port Allen man missing since late June has been found in his car that was submerged in a drainage ditch in Ascension Parish.

Louisiana State Police say Bryan Manriquez was found Friday. Authorities say he had been traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 at about 5:30 a.m. June 24 when his car ran off the highway and hit a tree in the median. Sgt. Jared Sandifer says the car continued traveling before hitting a concrete culvert and going into a drainage ditch, where it was completely submerged.

The Advocate reports Iberville Parish sheriff’s deputies found the car Friday and contacted state police.

Sandifer says seat belt use is unknown at this time, but excessive speed and rainy weather conditions are considered possible factors in the crash.
