PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Providence Police Department records office clerk has been arrested after police say she illegally provided accident reports to a chiropractor’s business.

Rosemery Garcia has been charged with accessing a computer for fraudulent purposes and wrongful conversion by municipal employees.

Police Chief Hugh Clements Jr. says Garcia had been under investigation for months for delivering reports to Dr. Eugene Kramer at the New England Spine and Disc Center in exchange for cash.

Garcia was arrested after an undercover officer, posing as a patient, saw the accident reports on a receptionist’s desk.

Clements says Kramer has not been charged, and the investigation is ongoing.

A union business manager representing municipal employees did not respond to requests for comment. A spokesman for the police department says Garcia has been suspended without pay.
