ENFIELD, Conn. (AP) - Police in Connecticut have arrested the motorist they say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident.

Enfield police arrested 29-year-old Rocco Barile on Friday in connection with the December death of 20-year-old Jeremy Mercier. Police have charged Barile with evading responsibility of an accident that resulted in death along with several other offenses.

Authorities say the incident happened Dec. 2 around 1 a.m. on Route 5. Police say Mercier was struck and killed while riding his skateboard with a can of gasoline for a friend whose vehicle had broken down.

Officials say the investigation involved interviews and forensic testing.

Barile was being held Friday on $175,000 bond and is expected to appear in court next week.
