CANNON BEACH, Ore. (AP) - A salvage company has removed a 40-foot-sailboat that ended up on an Oregon beach.

The El Corazon washed ashore June 8 after the vessel lost propulsion 15 miles off the coast of Cannon Beach.

It took a little more than two weeks for the owner to arrange for the removal. By that time, thieves had taken the steering wheel, navigation equipment and other parts.

Cannon Beach Police Chief Jason Schermerhorn tells The Daily Astorian (https://is.gd/8sGgjY ) that his department received many calls about people taking items, but the thieves were gone by the time officers arrived.
