COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) - Authorities are searching for a driver who struck and seriously injured a pedestrian and left the scene.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s office says 45-year-old Rodney Russell, of Coeur d’Alene, was in critical condition at a local hospital following the crash. Deputies and medical staff found him seriously injured on the side of a street early Sunday morning.

Investigators believe Russell was walking on the side of the road when he was struck by a vehicle. The motorist did not stop or provide aid.

The sheriff’s office says they believe a full-sized SUV or pickup truck may be involved in the crash.
