ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The operators of New York’s power grid expect electricity demand this summer to be manageable.

The New York Independent System Operator this week said electricity supplies are expected to be adequate with enough resources available to meet peak demand.

Air conditioners drive up electricity demand in the summer, especially during heat waves.

Operators forecast that peak demand this summer will be over 33,000 megawatts, a bit above last summer’s peak demand.
