GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - A woman’s body was pulled from an Alabama creek and authorities are searching for a man who also jumped in.
AL.com reports (https://bit.ly/2qSr7TQ ) Etowah County Coroner London Pearce says 39-year-old Betty Ann Moon apparently drowned Sunday morning in Big Wills Creek.
Gadsden police Sgt. Mark Henderson says a woman and two men were fishing when she decided to dive in above a dam that is, along with a pump house nearby, remnants of a shuttered steel plant.
Henderson says one of the men jumped in after the woman was carried over the dam downstream. The remaining man notified authorities.
The 2015 search for a drowned kayaker resulted in the death of a county rescue squad member at the same site, since then signs warning about hazardous waters have been posted.
