PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say two men are in custody facing 10 counts of attempted murder each in gunfire that injured 10 people on a north Philadelphia block where a crowd was listening to music and dancing.

Police said Monday that 25 to 30 people including women and children were out celebrating May 20 when two males approached and fired 27 bullets, apparently targeting one person in the crowd. Ten people were injured, two critically.

Officials said a 19-year-old man turned himself in and an 18-year-old man was jailed in Montgomery County on an unrelated theft charge. Investigators said the shooting stemmed from an ongoing argument which they didn’t detail.

Commissioner Richard Ross appealed for help from the public in letting authorities know before trouble develops and in aiding the department’s mentoring efforts.
