LAUREL, Miss. (AP) - Police have arrested a man they say shot another Mississippi man and threw his body on the road.

Laurel police Detective Kim Stewart tells WDAM-TV that Joshua Allen Miller was arrested Monday morning after police found him sitting in an SUV in a motel parking lot. Stewart says police also found a handgun that may be connected to the Clarke County killing.

Miller was wanted in connection with the death of Johnny Wayne James.

Stonewall police Chief Mike Street says a witness stated Miller shot James early Saturday and threw James’ body onto a road.

Clarke County Sheriff Todd Kemp says the victim was found lying on a road with a gunshot wound to the head. Jones County deputies later found Miller’s SUV in a wooded area along Interstate 59.
