WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - A Utah woman is under arrest on suspicion of murder after police say she set a house fire to kill her mother.

Police say 64-year-old Kathie Thomas was found dead shortly after midnight on Monday on the upper floor of her West Valley City home. Fire crews rescued a man sleeping in the basement and two other adults and a child managed to escape.

Also in the home was 46-year-old Loralie Thomas, who police believe started the blaze. She was arrested and jailed on suspicion of aggravated murder, arson and four counts of attempted murder. No lawyer was immediately listed in court records for her.

Damages are estimated at $150,000.
