SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - A man in Arizona had to be rescued after crashing his vehicle through a wall and into a backyard pool.

Scottsdale firefighters rescued the man Monday evening. Officials say he is an elderly disabled man who is expected to be OK after the incident.

Officials did not immediately say why the man lost control of the car.

Peggy Ahrems, who lives where the incident happened, says the crash sounded like a bomb. She said she walked outside to her pool and saw the vehicle floating in the water.

Ahrems says the man couldn’t get his seatbelt off before firefighters arrived and might have been injured if the car tipped any sooner.

No bystanders were injured.
