CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Police say an officer shot one man during an armed confrontation and not two men as the department previously reported.

In a news release, the department corrected information it released earlier about the shooting on the city’s northwest side late Tuesday night to say that the second man struck his head but was not shot.

Police say the officers were driving through the area when shots fired from a car struck a nearby civilian vehicle. The officers then “engaged in an armed confrontation” with the men in the car. Police did not detail how the second man suffered his head injury.

Police also say that they recovered two weapons at the scene.

Officials say it’s the fourth time since Friday that police have been fired upon while on duty.
