HAVERHILL, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say a Massachusetts teenager answering a knock at his door has been shot to death by an assailant who then fled.

Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said in a statement that 18-year-old Bryce Finn was shot in the chest at his Haverhill (HAY’-vruhl) home at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators do not believe the shooting was a random act.

There have been no arrests announced and the district attorney did not disclose any possible motives.

The Eagle-Tribune reports that Finn graduated from Haverhill High School last Friday.
