WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - The wife of a Massachusetts police officer who claimed the family’s home had been burglarized and spray painted with the letters “BLM” has acknowledged there are sufficient facts to find her guilty of filing a false police report.
The Telegram & Gazette (https://bit.ly/2sG023A ) reports the case against Maria Daly has been continued without a finding for one year.
Police were called to Daly’s Millbury home in October after receiving reports of a burglary. Daly told police $10,000 worth of jewelry was taken, and the letters “BLM” were spray-painted on the siding, a reference to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Police say Daly staged the burglary and graffiti for insurance payments so she could repay debts. Police say her husband, Millbury Officer Daniel Daly, had no knowledge of his wife’s actions.
