LONG BEACH, Miss. (AP) - Three people now have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Long Beach that left one person dead.

Long Beach Police tell local media police responded to the shooting around 7:40 p.m. Monday and found 25-year-old Deverick Johnson in the street, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

The suspect in the shooting, 28-year-old James Wilson McDowell, was arrested Tuesday after a two-hour standoff with Gulfport police. He was jailed in Harrison County on a murder charge.

Earlier, police had arrested 29-year-old Michael Anthony Taylor and 29-year-old Charity Roxanne McDowell and charged both with accessory after the fact to murder.

It’s unclear if Taylor, Charity McDowell or James McDowell have attorneys.

Court documents show the shooting stemmed from an argument over a stolen gun and money.
