TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and grand larceny in a plot to have his wife killed.

Authorities say Derik Graves was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison.

Prosecutors say he planned to hire a co-worker to shoot and kill his wife.

District Attorney John Weddle tells WTVA-TV (https://bit.ly/2m9R26a ) says Graves’ plan was thwarted when the hired gunman told law enforcement about the plan. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation worked with the informant and recorded Graves during 10 meetings scheming to accomplish the murder.

State and federal authorities arrested Graves soon after he purchased a weapon.
