CUSTER, S.D. (AP) - Crews believe a tree falling on a power line caused a wildfire that threatened several homes in western South Dakota.

As many as 20 homes, cabins and other structures southeast of Custer were threatened by the Whitetail Fire on Wednesday. The fire started on private land but then moved into Custer State Park.

Crews were able to save the structures. There were no reports of injuries.

Dry, windy conditions have fanned several fires in the Black Hills region the past couple of weeks.
