MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man convicted of bludgeoning his girlfriend and her father to death two years has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.

Dennis Pozniak won’t be eligible for parole under the sentence imposed Friday.

A Burlington County jury convicted the 29-year-old Cinnaminson man last December on murder and weapons charges stemming from the January 2015 deaths of 24-year-old Nicole Wilson and 52-year-old Bryan Wilson.

Prosecutors say Pozniak used a pipe wrench to fatally beat both victims as they slept inside a Mount Holly home that the couple shared.

Defense attorneys claimed Pozniak didn’t deliberately intend to kill the Wilsons. They say years of mental illness and drug use led to his diminished capacity.

But prosecutors say Pozniak was enraged because his relationship with Nicole Wilson was ending.
