BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters say north Alabama will be in a deep freeze later this week.

The National Weather Service says it expects to issue a freeze watch for the northern two-thirds of Alabama on Monday.

The weather service says overnight lows may drop into the low to mid-20s on both Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures also could dip below freezing in northeastern Alabama on Friday.

While the northeastern United States is bracing for possible blizzard conditions, forecasters say that won’t be a problem in Alabama. Parts of the Tennessee Valley received nearly 1 inch of snow early Sunday.
