ANTIOCH, Calif. (AP) - A husband delivered his wife’s baby on the side of a California freeway with over-the-phone instructions from a fire department dispatcher.

The East Bay Times says (https://bayareane.ws/2lTdgdP ) the call came in Sunday to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

Dispatcher Janin Campbell, who has talked others through childbirth during her 22-year career, was on duty.

The husband told Campbell that the couple was pulled over on State Route 4 in Antioch and his wife was going into labor.

When the man said he saw the head, Campbell talked him through helping his wife deliver, and the baby girl arrived six minutes later.
