MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (AP) - The speed limit on a 60-mile stretch of the Northeastern Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike has been reduced due to drifting snow and slick pavement.

Turnpike officials temporarily lowered the speed limit to 45 mph Wednesday night on Interstate 476 north of the Lehigh Tunnel to the end of the extension.

Officials are urging motorists to use caution when they’re out on the roads as the area experiences high winds Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Officials say crews will continue to treat the interstate where there is drifting snow.
