HAYWARD, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say the person shot and killed by police east of San Francisco earlier this week was a 16-year-old girl.
KGO-TV reports (https://abc7ne.ws/2nJgtZM ) Elena Mondragon of Antioch, California was shot by Fremont police while they were following up on a robbery investigation in the nearby city of Hayward.
The shooting occurred Tuesday night near the California State University, East Bay campus.
She died later at a nearby hospital.
Police say they fired shots at a car after the driver shifted into reverse and rammed a police vehicle, injuring two detectives. Mondragon was a passenger in the car.
Police arrested two people; one man remains at large. Their names and ages were not released. The two detectives were treated at the scene and released Tuesday night.
