WINDHAM, Maine (AP) - Authorities are investigating a fire at an old mill building in Windham, Maine.

The blaze broke out at the three-story building early Thursday. Heavy flames were coming from one of the buildings by the time crews arrived.

The building is located near the Presumpscot (preh-ZUMP’-skaht) River.

The Town’s fire chief tells WGME-TV the building was converted into a moving and storage business and has an apartment.

One person inside escaped safely. Fire officials have contained the fire.

The owner says he knew of one person who lived in the apartment and says that person is being evicted.
