BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana State University officials are investigating what the school described in a campus-wide alert as a “reported abduction” from the “sorority area.”

The Advocate (https://bit.ly/2nwy4VE) reports that campus police issued an emergency text message Wednesday night describing the suspect as an armed man with dreadlocks wearing a black shirt and pants. The message also said he was driving a stolen vehicle. Police say the victim was safe.

University spokesman Ernie Ballard said in a statement that the incident was under investigation. Ballard declined to provide more details.

Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. says officers responded to a call in connection to a stolen vehicle and possible rape. Coppola says officers turned the case over to LSU police after determining the incident took place on campus.
