PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a man has died after being shot in the head while in a Phoenix motel room with other people.

Phoenix police identified the dead man as 47-year-old Anthony Freeman.

They say officers who were in the area because of an unrelated matter Friday morning heard shots fired and were directed to the motel room by a witness.

Another person was injured during the shooting, but police say his injuries aren’t life-threatening.

Police say other people were in the room where the shooting occurred and that their inconsistent statements point to possible involvement in illegal activity.

No additional information is immediately available as police continue their investigation.
