WASHINGTON (AP) - Two people are dead following separate shootings in the District of Columbia.

Police said statements that both shootings happened around 9 a.m. Friday.

Police said that one shooting took place in the 4000 block of Cole Boulevard SE. Police say when they arrived they found 43-year-old Bernard Coleman of Washington suffering from apparent gunshots. Police say he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said another shooting took place in the 2200 block of Minnesota Avenue SE. Police say when they arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say he was taken to a hospital where he died. Police identified him as 33-year-old Steven Edward Stewart Jr. of Washington.

Both shootings are under investigation.
