IMMOKALEE, Fla. (AP) - Officials say a dog died during a southwest Florida house fire.

The Naples Daily News (https://goo.gl/DRH738 ) reports that Immokalee Fire Control District responded to the home Friday morning.

Battalion Chief Thomas Cunningham said all six human occupants had evacuated by the time firefighters arrived, but a dog died from smoke inhalation.

Officials say the fire started in the bedroom and caused smoke damage throughout the house. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

No firefighters were injured.
