NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The 25-year-old suspect in an accident that injured more than two dozen people watching a Saturday night Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans now faces 26 total counts with bond set at $545,000.

Online records show Neilson Rizzuto of Paradis (PEHR’-uh-dee) remained in the New Orleans jail Wednesday night.

Rizzuto was arrested after a pickup truck plowed into a crowd watching the annual Endymion parade. He first faced four counts and a $125,000 bond. More counts and a higher bond were set Tuesday.



Police have said a breath test showed a blood alcohol level nearly triple the level considered legal proof of intoxication. Charges including reckless operation of a vehicle, hit-and-run driving causing serious injury and multiple counts of first-degree negligent injury.
