SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Nazareth used a suffocating defense and high-octane offense Thursday to race past Slocum 63-31 in UIL Class 1A state semifinal girls’ basketball action at the San Antonio Alamodome.
Freshman Cambrie Heiman led the offensive effort for Nazareth (34-1) with 17 points, including four three-pointers.
Slocum tied the game at 12-12 in the final seconds of the first quarter but Nazareth outscored the Mustangs 51-19 from that point.
Allie Schulte added 13 points for Nazareth while Taylor Clark led Slocum (25-10) with eight points.
Nazareth led 33-22 at the half and finished the game on a 16-0 scoring run.
Nazareth has won 20 state titles, including two of the last three 1A state championships.
The Swiftettes have won 34 straight games since losing their opener to Class 5A power Amarillo.
