HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Dakarai Henderson scored 16 points and Chris Galbreath Jr. scored 12 with 13 rebounds and Sam Houston State fended off McNeese State 79-74 on Thursday in Southland Conference action.

Jamaya Burr made a pair of free throws to bring McNeese State within 73-70 with 90 seconds to go before Henderson scored a 3. Stephen Ugochukwu narrowed the deficit to four with a pair of free throws.

Paul Baxter made his first foul shot and missed the second and Jamal Williams grabbed the offensive rebound and was intentionally fouled. He made one of two free throws to make it 78-72 to seal the game.

Baxter added 11 points for Sam Houston State (19-11, 10-7).

Ugochukwu and Kalob Ledoux led McNeese State (7-21, 4-13) with 17 points each. Ledoux shot 7 for 8 including 3 for 3 from 3-point range before fouling out. Burr added 10 points for the Cowboys.
