CAPITOLA, Calif. (AP) - Police say a father shot and killed his 8-year-old daughter and then fatally shot himself inside a car at a Santa Cruz County shopping mall.
KGO reports (https://abc7ne.ws/2ndW81J ) the shooting happened around 3:15 p.m. Sunday at the Capitola Mall.
Capitola Police Chief Terry McManus says the mother called police after becoming concerned that the man was “potentially suicidal.”
When police arrived, the mother and family members led officers to a black Kia, where both bodies were found. Their names were not released.
No one else was injured.
Authorities are trying to determine what triggered the violence.
