SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Police in South Burlington say a street was shut down after a standoff with a woman who gained entry to a home she was not supposed to be in.

WCAX-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2mHasvH ) police say the woman was acting erratically when they arrived at the residence on Sunday night. They say she had apparently gotten into a fight with her mother, who wasn’t home when police were called to the scene. Chief Trevor Whipple says officers smelled gasoline coming from the home.

Whipple says officers were able to convince the woman to exit the home. She was hospitalized.

The news station reports that police believe the woman doused the home with fuel. Gas and power were shut off to the home. The road was later reopened.
