ELLISVILLE, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say a woman has been killed in a St. Louis County house fire.

Metro West Fire Protection District spokesman Michael Thiemann says the woman was found dead in her kitchen after a fire in her Ellisville home. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/2mkUBYh ) reports that police were called to the home about 2:15 a.m. Sunday because of a burglar alarm that was likely tripped by a window shattered by flames. Thiemann says police then summoned firefighters, who put out the blaze in about 20 minutes.

Thiemann says the fire started in the kitchen and caused smoke damage throughout much of the home.

The victim was alone in the home. Her name and age were not immediately released.
