CHAMPION, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania State Police say a Pittsburgh man wanted for threatening police in Maryland has been arrested after a trooper fired a shot at his car.
Thirty-three-year-old Matthew Zoglmann has been jailed on aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and other charges stemming from a confrontation early Tuesday at a small plaza in Champion, Pennsylvania. Champion is about 50 miles northwest of Allegany County, Maryland, where he was reportedly wanted for threatening police officers.
Two troopers encountered Zoglmann after a police bulletin broadcast his description.
Police say one trooper fired through Zoglmann’s windshield after he refused to drop a shotgun and drove toward the troopers.
Zoglmann was injured by glass fragments from the windshield. The troopers weren’t hurt.
Zoglmann doesn’t have an attorney.
