ST. LOUIS (AP) - Police say a homeowner who fatally shot a man may have believed the victim was trying to break into a car.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported (https://bit.ly/2nPxl1F ) Tuesday that the 53-year-old man is in custody. No charges have been filed against him.

The victim was identified as 53-year-old Tommie Tyler. Police do not believe the two men knew each other.



Officers responding to a disturbance call found the victim lying in the street. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

St. Louis County Police Officer Benjamin Granda says the victim had been shot twice in the upper body.

Police say the shooter is cooperating with detectives.
