PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Pittsfield police have arrested a high school student they say brought a gun to campus shortly after shooting a man off campus.

The Berkshire Eagle (https://bit.ly/2nG94yw ) reports that the Taconic High School student, whose name has not been released, was arrested on school grounds Monday.

Officials say the student left school during lunch period at about 12:15 p.m.

About 15 minutes later, police responded to a disturbance at a city home where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the hand.

Police quickly identified the student as a suspect. The student was arrested at the school and allegedly had a gun in a backpack.

Superintendent Jason McCandless says staff and students stayed behind closed doors during the arrest and no one at school was hurt.
