LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say a man strangled his girlfriend and burned her body after she called him lazy.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2nK1wL1 ) that 21-year-old Raymond Quinsell Lewis IV was arrested Thursday on one count of open murder. Clark County coroner’s office has identified a burned body as Lewis’ deceased girlfriend Geranique Bentley.

Authorities say Lewis had initially told police that 20-year-old Bentley went missing after they fell asleep in an abandoned apartment complex unit. He later told police that they had argued on March 10 and after she called him lazy, Lewis got on top of Bentley and strangled her.

Lewis told police he tried to get rid of Bentley’s body quickly by burning it.

Lewis is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
