PHOENIX (AP) - A Valley man accused of shooting at a state trooper after being pulled over for a window tinting violation in Avondale has pleaded not guilty in court.

Luis Aldana’s next court hearing is on May 4.

Police say Aldana fired shots at a DPS trooper on March 2 after being pulled over. He fled the scene but was taken into custody about three hours later.

Police say Aldan was wounded in the gunfire exchange.

The trooper, an 11-year DPS veteran, was not injured.
